Is it good to have your teeth cleaned?
Regular dental cleanings are important for removing plaque and tartar from your teeth. This helps prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other serious damage.
Absolutely! Having routine dental cleanings helps to remove troublesome plaque and tartar that is full of bacteria. This is crucial because, if left unattended, plaque and tartar can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, and other significant damage.
What happens during a teeth cleaning?
During a dental cleaning, your hygienist will assess your gums for any recession, periodontal pocketing, and plaque or tartar buildup. Plaque and tartar will be removed from around your gum line and in between your teeth.
Your teeth will then be polished with a high-tech electric brush, and the cleaning will be finished with a flossing. An oral cancer screening will also be performed at each visit. If you are cavity prone or have chronic tooth sensitivity, we may recommend a prescription fluoride treatment or mouthwash.
Is dental cleaning painful?
If it has been some time since your last professional cleaning, you may experience some gum bleeding during your next appointment. However, our team of hygienists are gentle and will take things at a pace that suits your needs and comfort level. If your mouth feels sore after your cleaning, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever for relief.
Does my insurance cover dental cleanings?
Most dental insurance policies cover the cost of two annual teeth cleanings. Our office will be happy to help you submit a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of service.
